Boek

Boek Overgangsrituelen voorkantThe book ‘Rites of passage, bridges between the other and the equal’ brings religions, philosophies and cultures together by focussing on the important moments in life such as birth, adulthood, marriage and death. We see that human beings all feel a need for ritualizing those moments. These rites of passage described concern Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, Islam, Liberal Humanism, Aborigines (Australia), Betamaribe (West-Africa), Inuit (Eastern Greenland) and Kuna Indians (Central America).

The book is illustrated with interviews and life stories of insiders. While reading you can empathize with the other while you may recognize the ritual in your own culture. At the end of the book you’ll find a comparative study, a description of the differences and the similarities between rituals in religions, philosophies and cultures. The book contains over 350 colourful illustrations.
